MAAC VASHI PRESENTS GRVITY 2011

MAAC Vashi organized its 8th Annual Award Function GRAVITY-2011 on Saturday, 20th August 2011, at Vishnu Das Bhave Auditorium. This in house competition of MAAC Vashi provides students to showcase their skills to representative from leading productions houses and stalwarts in Indian Animation Industry. GRAVITY also provides students of MAAC Vashi a chance to know the actual production pipeline & to get a feel of working for a production house.

Students are given a time deadline of 3 months to complete & submit their entries for various categories. Over the past 8years MAAC Vashi‘s Gravity has become the leading 3D Animation Event in Navi Mumbai. This year Gravity reached new heights and standards in terms of student works, around 150+ students participated in various categories.

The event was inaugurated by Shri. Ganesh Naik, Maharashtra‘s Minister of Excise, Environment & Labour, who motivated & wished students all the best for their future. The Jury & Guest list of the event includes, Anuj Kacker- Chief Operating Officer, Retail Education, and Sr. VP (International), Aptech; Arghosen Gupta- Asst. VP MAYA, Sanjeev Waeerkar - Chief Creative Officer, MAAC; Bhavika Chavan - Senior VP, MAAC; Venkatesh Kamath - Sr. Assistant Director (Academics) MAAC; Rahul Randive- Heading West Zone MAAC; Snigdha - Placements MAAC; Kavita Prakash-Industry Relations & Student Development, MAAC.

Gravity, apart from showcasing student‘s works, also allows students to showcase their talents through student performances on stage. The winners this year were awarded a Trophy, Winning Certificates & cash prize sponsored by Animax Studios India Pvt. Ltd.

• Best Digital Painting: Anu Gupta (Cash Prize - 1500/-)
• Best Matte Painting: Dinu Thomas (Cash Prize - 1500/-)
• Best Stop Motion Movie: Boond (Shweta Pandit and Tushar Mall) (Cash Prize - 1500/-)
• Best Architectural Walk-through: Game Zone (Harshal Patil, Maya Nikam, Kalyani Nipanikar) (Cash Prize - 2500/-)
• Best VFX: Occlunes (Uday More, Shivprasad, Santosh Patil, Praven Dhapal ) (Cash Prize - 7500/-)
• Best Modeling & Texturing: Govind Gudghe (Cash Prize - 2000/-)
• Best 3D Short Film: Chip-N-Chop (Susmita Badgujar) (Cash Prize - 7500/-)
• Best Modeling in 3D Short Film Category: Ankey Pakey (Pooja Gadi, Iswari Chavan, ) (Cash Prize - 1500/-)
• Best Lighting & Texturing in 3D Short Film Category: Chip-N-Chop (Susmita Badgujar) (Cash Prize - 1500/-)
